Visit at the EU- parliament

Today the students that read the samhäll B and samhäll C cources went into Brussels to visit the EU parliament. The buss left from the school at 08.00 and due to the traffic we arrived around 09.00. After going though the security check we met up with Amelia Andersdotter, a young swedish parliament member. She is a member of the swedish party ¨Piratpartiet¨ . She told us about the work she is doing, her political views and about how her working days looked like. It was interesting to see such a young woman is the EU parliament and to be able to hear what she has to say about it.
Later, her assistent gave us a tour of the building (which is huge and very easy to get lost in!). He showed us conference rooms and all of the different buildings. It's very exciting thinking about all of the important people who have been walking in these buildings and how many decisions have been made in the rooms that we visited.
I have been at the EU parliament a couple of times before and I always find it as interesting.

Here are some pictures that I took during the day:

Belgian princess Astrid visiting SSB

Today was a very exciting day here at SSB. We had the privilege to get a visit from the belgian princess Astrid. She came this morning and was met by loads of children from the school waving the scandinavian flags outside the castle. The students from the studentcounsil, lunchcomittee and friendship supporters together with teachers were allowed to participate during the ceremony that the school. Since I am a member of the friendship supporters I am very happy to be able to participate in this honorable assembly. The ceremony started of with a short presentation of the schools background and welcoming the princess. This year the school is celebrating it's 40th year anniversary and have therefore done a photography display of Queen Astrid of Belgium. SSB was founded in 1973 and was then called Reine Astrid, after Queen Astrid. Therefore, it was fitting to invite Queen Astrids granddaughter princess Astrid to the school to open up the display in honor of her grandmother.
I had a lovely day which I will never forget. After all, it isn't every day you get to see a princess!

Photos from her visit will come shortly!

RUSS- clothing for the norweigen seniors

The norweigen seniors here at SSB are following the norweigen tradition and are going to be RUSS. For all of you who don't know what it is, it is basically a thing the norweigen students do before graduating. They will were this uniform each day for a couple of weeks during may and they can personalise it in any way they want to. This year, some swedish students in our classs have even decided that they want to participate in this tradition and have therefore also ordered the uniform. The clothing arrived in the post for about a week ago and all the students were so excited and can't wait until may when they can walk around in school wearing them. I haven't got the uniform myself but I think that it is a great and fun way to spend the last weeks in school together and you really get the feeling that graduation is coming up soon!

Here is a picture of my swedish friend Moa wearing her uniform :)

Back

Hey everyone!
I hope that you all have had a good and relaxing break! I spent my two weeks in Sweden with my family taking it easy, meeting friends and celebrating easter. I returned to Belgium a week ago and school started last monday. The reason that I havent bloged until now is that I have been home from school with the flu for the past 5days. Although I am feeling a lot better now and will continue with a bunch of interesting posts for you all!

This weekend the spring has FINALLY arrived to Belgium! Today it has been 22 degrees outside, so the roundabout and schoolyard has been packed with students playing football, relaxing and families having picknicks! It is so nice seeing everyone enjoying the weather, we just have to hope that it stays! :)

Here is a photo that I took in sweden during the holiday on my walk by the sea!
